The 21st Century Cities Initiative (21CC) at Johns Hopkins will have job openings available for recent graduates, post-doctoral students, and experienced researchers. Working at 21CC will give researchers an excellent opportunity to work on a variety of topic areas related to urban growth and quality of life in developed and developing countries. The center uses rigorous data analysis and policy evaluation to investigate how to best align and maximize the incentives of the private sector and federal, state and local governments to unlock the full potential of cities Please check back frequently as job openings will continue to arise.
Post-doctoral researchers are expected to have recently completed their PhD in economics. Post-doctoral researchers at 21CC will work with the center director, Matthew Kahn, on a discrete research project for 35% of their time, while spending the remainder of their time pursuing their own research. Pre-doctoral researchers are expected to have recently graduated with an undergraduate degree in economics and have an interest in pursuing a graduate degree in economics. 21CC pre-doctoral researchers will work collaboratively on a variety of projects with the center director, Matthew Kahn, and other center staff. The ideal candidate will have a strong background in linear econometrics, spatial analysis, and microeconomics. Strong candidates will have familiarity working in Stata, GIS software, and experience in Python or R. The position will have an expected start date of July 2020.
