A new comprehensive annual survey is out from Johns Hopkins covering a variety of regional issues in the Baltimore area, from policing to food insecurity and transportation.
The survey finds three-quarters of Black respondents fear the police questioning or arresting them. On the opposite side, the same number of white respondents reported no fear.
“The survey sheds light on how the legacy of racism and segregation in Baltimore continues to shape lives, “lead author Michael Bader said. “Policing clearly places an emotional burden on Black communities, and the sheer level of food insecurity is alarming.”
