Andy Miller

Professor, Geography & Environmental Systems, University of Maryland, Baltimore County

Andy Miller studies rivers and floods, with a particular interest in extreme floods and increasing the frequency of intense rainfall in urban areas. He also investigates the processes that determine how sediment travels and where it ends up in watersheds from small urban watersheds to the whole Chesapeake Bay watershed. Finally, he studies the effectiveness of management efforts like stream restoration and stormwater management, which are used to reduce the impacts of development.
