Peter Groffman

Professor, Earth and Environmental Sciences, City University of New York

Peter Groffman aims to adapt forest management in the northeastern United States to its warming climate. He studies how warming harms forests and trees – including reduced biological activity that “usually” continues through the winter under a layer of snow, damage to tree roots, and increased rain washing away nutrients critical to tree growth.
